Progenie Molecular is a biomedical company specialized in molecular diagnostics.


We use state-of-the-art biotechnology for the development of in vitro diagnostic products and diagnostic and genetic identification tests.


Our aim is to develop and apply innovative solutions for the diagnosis, prevention and monitoring of diseases, to help those affected and health professionals in clinical decision-making, to contribute to technological development in our society and to help our country to be among the leading countries.


We are based on innovation, professionalism and quality, without forgetting that our products and services are about the most important thing: people's health.

Staff

The company is headed by Diego Arroyo. Diego is a molecular biologist with extensive experience in the biomedical sector. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

 Diego began his scientific career at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), where he conducted research work for six years in the Molecular Genetics Dept. of the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona. He continued his scientific career at the retrovirus laboratory of the Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol (Can Ruti) of Badalona. Afterwards he directed for two years the molecular biology laboratory of an important laboratory of special techniques.

 After these scientific and professional stages, he founded Progenie Molecular in 2003, with the aim of reflecting all the accumulated experience on a centre specialized in molecular diagnostics.

He is currently the president of the Spanish Society of Molecular Diagnostics (SEDM), member of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) and member of the Scientific Comittee of the Spanish Association for Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (AEPEF) . He is visiting professor of two Masters in the University Complutense of Madrid and he is currently the director of two PhD thesis in the molecular diagnostics field.

Laura Ruiz is a biologist and has a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular biology by the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM).

Laura began her scientific career with an internship at the Department of Cytology and Histology of the UAM. She worked as a researcher at the Molecular Genetics Unit of the Ramon y Cajal Hospital in Madrid for 6 years until the end of her thesis in 2012 at the UAM's Faculty of Medicine's Department of Biochemistry.

Laura is member of the Spanish Association of Human Genetics (AEGH), the Spanish Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (SEIMC) and the Spanish Society of Molecular Diagnostics (SEDM). Since 2015 she´s led the R & D Department of Progenie molecular and she currently holds the technical direction of the company.

Facilities

Progenie molecular has it´s modern facilities in an exclusive building of 600 m2, of which nearly 200 m2 are dedicated to a laboratory equipped with the latest equipment to carry out the most modern techniques of molecular diagnosis and genetic identification.

We are in the city of Valencia, close to the Hospital 9 de Octubre and the Bioparc, in an environment with numerous health sector centers.

Quality Management Systems

Progenie molecular has two certified quality systems: ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2018 covering the following activities:


  •     Clinical diagnostics service in the areas of genetics, virology,     serology, molecular microbiology and genetic identification.


  •     Design, development, production and marketing of products     for in vitro diagnostics, and scientific research based on     molecular biology.

All technical work is verified by biological controls provided by independent organizations such as NIBSC (National Institute for Biological Standards and Controls), QCMD (Quality Control for Molecular Diagnostics) and QNOSTICS.


The company participates in external quality exercises such as the quality exercise of the Spanish and Portuguese Group of the International Society for Forensic Genetics (ISFG-GHEP).

Authorizations

Progenie molecular is a company licensed by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) for the production of in vitro diagnostic reagents.



Our products comply with European Directive 98/79/EC about in vitro diagnostics, and the Royal Decrees 1662/2000 and 1591/2009 that regulate the manufacture of medical devices in Spain.

Progenie molecular is a laboratory accredited for molecular diagnosis of genetic and infectious diseases (registration No. 5568-GV).  


This authorization is required to process clinical samples and to issue a clinical report with the result. 

As a registered laboratory, our facilities are subject to regulatory requirements and regular inspections carried out by health administrations.

Progenie molecular complies with all legal requirements regarding fiscal and laboral matters, data protection, hazard prevention and control of occupational hazards and toxic waste management.
