Bordetella pertussis, bordetella parapertussis and bordetella holmesii

RealCycler BORDETEL panel allows the detection of Bordetella pertussis, Bordetella parapertussis, and Bordetella holmesii DNA in clinical samples. These bacteria are responsible for respiratory infections, including whooping cough, a highly contagious disease that primarily affects children.

The infection is characterized by episodes of intense and persistent coughing, often followed by a high-pitched sound when inhaling. It can lead to severe complications, particularly in infants and unvaccinated individuals. Accurate diagnosis is essential due to the similarity of its symptoms to other respiratory infections.
