RealCycler CDIF allows the detection of Clostridioides difficile toxin B (TcdB) and binary toxin (CDT) DNA in clinical samples. Clostridioides difficile (formerly Clostridium difficile) are Gram+bacilli, strict anaerobes. C. difficile is the most important cause of pseudomembranous colitis. C. difficile toxin B (TcdB) is a cytotoxin produced by the bacteria, the effect of which is potentially lethal.
