RealCycler CSTVGV allows the detection of DNA from Candida sp., Trichomonas vaginalis, and Gardnerella vaginalis in clinical samples. Candida sp. is associated with fungal infections that can cause vaginal candidiasis, characterized by itching, burning, and abnormal vaginal discharge. Trichomonas vaginalis is a protozoan that causes one of the most common sexually transmitted infections, manifesting with vaginal discharge, inflammation, and urinary discomfort. Gardnerella vaginalis is implicated in bacterial vaginosis, a disruption of the vaginal flora that can cause foul-smelling discharge and increase the risk of other infections.
Early detection is key for proper clinical management, allowing for targeted treatment and the prevention of complications.
