RealCycler EBCMVI allows for the detection of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) DNA in clinical samples. Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) are viruses from the Herpesviridae family that can cause infectious meningoencephalitis. EBV is associated with infectious mononucleosis and shows elevated lymphocytes in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). CMV primarily affects immunocompromised individuals, presenting with significant inflammation in the CSF. HHV-6, which can cause roseola, can also induce meningoencephalitis, with viral detection through PCR in the CSF.
