RealCycler MYGE allows the detection of Mycoplasma genitalium in clinical samples. Mycoplasma genitalium is a bacterium associated with genitourinary tract infections, such as non-gonococcal urethritis in men and cervicitis or vaginitis in women. This bacterium can cause symptoms including urethral discharge, pain during urination, and pelvic discomfort. Early detection is crucial for appropriate treatment and the prevention of complications, as Mycoplasma genitalium can be challenging to diagnose with traditional methods and is associated with resistance to certain antibiotics.
