RealCycler

Panton-Valentine leukocidin toxin + Staphylococcus aureus + mecA.

RealCycler SAMAPV allows the detection of the mecA gene (associated with methicillin resistance), Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL) toxin, and Staphylococcus aureus DNA in clinical samples.

The mecA gene confers resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics, complicating the treatment of Staphylococcus aureus infections. The PVL toxin is associated with severe skin and soft tissue infections, as well as necrotizing pneumonia. Staphylococcus aureus is a relevant pathogen that can cause infections ranging from mild skin infections to severe systemic infections, such as sepsis or endocarditis.

Early detection is crucial for proper clinical management, allowing for the selection of effective antimicrobial treatments and the prevention of severe complications.
